Guest Speaker Nabeel Antique

Nabeel will be presenting a a video/ narrative on his recent cycling event in Italy, The Maratona dles Dolomites which is a Gran Fondo that takes place in Italy with 9,000 participants  from all over the world .

There are three course options: the Sella Ronda course, the Middle course and the Maratona course (the longest). The Maratona courses through 8 mountain passes in the Dolomites, with an elevation gain of 13,750 ft in 86 miles, making it one if the steepest gran fondos in the world. Passo Giau is the 7th pass and the steepest with an average grade of 10% for 10 km. Most of the other passes provide little relief at 6% plus gradients. National Geographic describes it as  one of the biggest, most passionate, and most chaotic bike races on Earth. Nabeel Atique took part in the 28th edition of the race on July 6th, 2014 and successfully completed it.

Nabeel Atique is a two time California Triple Crown winner, having completed 8 double centuries in two years. In 2012, he was the winner of the Channel Islands Bicycle Club Year Rounder competition having completed 11,500 miles including 33 centuries in a year. He is also an avid mountain biker, rock climber and mountaineer having climbed El Capitan's East Buttress in Yosemite and climbed several mountains in the Alps, Andes, Africa and the Pacific Northwest.
