Santa Clarita Triathlon Club

Club General Meeting and Social

  • 12 Apr 2016
  • 7:00 PM
  • Pocock Brewery. 24907 Avenue Tibbitts, Suite B Santa Clarita, CA 91355

The club general meeting and social event will be hosted at Pocock Brewery and they are opening the brewery just for our meeting.

They accept cards/cash and as well as beer (of course!) they have wine and soft drinks.

As well as announcements of upcoming events we will have a guest speaker Sheri Barke and her presentation will be on: "Exercise Nutrition- Fueling for optimal training, performance, and recovery".

We are excited to hear her presentation - Sheri Barke is a Registered Dietitian specializing in sports nutrition, eating disorders, and wellness in the Santa Clarita Valley. After receiving her Bachelors degree in Nutritional Sciences from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Sheri earned a Masters degree in Public Health from UCLA.  For the past 18 years, Sheri has worked in college health (first at UCLA and now at COC’s Student Health & Wellness Center), providing individual nutrition counseling to students, teaching numerous workshops, and coordinating the Body Mind Wellness programs on campus.  She currently holds a faculty position at College of the Canyons and runs a private nutrition consulting practice in Stevenson Ranch, where she also lives with her family.

Sheri grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley and has fond memories of her dancing years on the award winning Saugus High School Dance Team. She now keeps herself active with running, hiking, and the many sport activities of her 2 children (ages 11 and 9 years). She is passionate about helping adults and kids fuel their bodies for optimal performance in school, sport, and life, while also developing a positive relationship with food, exercise, and their bodies.

The brewery can be a little tricky to find so it is worth using your GPS!

Look forward to seeing everyone there for Triathlon talk and beers.
